Save your appetite is SO good! I find we often get carried away with nibbles before the main event! And love the hand-written recipe card. I have a few from my aunt and grandma that I love to pull out and read from time to time.
My mom adored Jane Brody. Her Jane Brody cookbooks were literally falling apart from being stuffed with donation request cards, old grocery lists, and scribbled on envelopes marking her favorites. I've been going through all of her things and have found the most wonderful recipes; old sisterhood cookbooks circa 1963 from obscure places, and at least 8 recipes (so far) for bran muffins!?! This post and the photo of your mom's recipe touched me. Thank you. I miss her terribly this time of year.
Thanks for the tips! My mom made that pate too but she used green peas. Later I made them with green beans because I found that peas were too sweet. I experimented with other vegetables too, including chickpeas, and now I like a combination of green beans and chickpeas. (and walnuts and hard boiled eggs)
Love leaning into seafood for Thanksgiving appetizers! Oysters have been our go to appetizer along with my mom’s boyfriend’s smoked salmon with cream cheese and crackers. Also can’t go wrong with pickled things and some truffle Marcona almonds from TJ’s. And what a special way to include your mother in the celebration. It’s so wonderful the power that food has to bring us together in so many ways, even people who are no longer with us or far away.
Your mom’s handwriting looks so like my mom’s did. I can imagine her writing this recipe too. My mom would actually make the real pate which was very delicious and I had no idea it contained chicken livers. Just like my little sister had no idea when they served tongue that it was actually a cow tongue, until she saw it on the kitchen counter.
<3 Love all of this.

I love when a cookbook becomes a file cabinet. I'm with you, Joey, this time of year is definitely harder. Sending good thoughts your way.
LOL! I love that - books as file cabinets! Good thoughts back to you.
I miss hand written recipe cards! The efficiency of email will never match the sweet memories of looping instruction and stained paper.
let's bring them back!

Love this!
Love ICO!! And all these great ideas and tips.
Love all these ideas and really love me some Island Creek oysters!
Those veggie plates are so colorful and gorgeous! And that butter-vanilla bean paste-baguette-anchovy situation has my full attention!
It’s sooooo good
Now I want a seafood tower! Maybe this is the year I buy a tiered server. Can’t do it for Thanksgiving, but maybe Christmas….

❤️❤️ that recipe card is so precious. And totally agree nobody needs to do wild with apps before a giant feast of a meal
Love this. Needed a good dip for my crudite platter and think I’m going to try that Green Goddess one!
