Also, Masarin's approach to hosting reminds me of what my parents used to say when hosting friends for a casual gathering, no matter the season...they'd announce "summer rules" and guests would know to help themselves to the bar and snacks!
If it was announced when guests arrived, everyone knew they could help themselves to anything - my mother loved to throw more formal dinner parties throughout the year but I think the “summer rules” gatherings were less about a planned/coursed affair and more about that spur-of-the-moment, take-your-shoes-off and kick back feeling so embodied in Mélanie’s work!
